Dear School Spirit Gods,
I'm not really sure what your plan is but I was pretty sure I fulfilled my school spirit duties in high school, being that I devoted the majority of my life to the evils of cheerleading. But lately I've taken interest in school sports (mostly watching of course) and university events like Spring Jam (sort of like homecoming). This is just a little weird since I came to school with no intention to be active in the university community, at least not in this way. I'm fine with doing practical things like Student Government and representing certain political groups, but when was the last time I was excited to play ultimate Frisbee? I don't know how comfortable I feel with being all loud and obnoxious at public events, people must think I'm psycho. But for some reason the Monday night Spring Jam events inspired me to revert to cheerleader mode. My throat was sore from yelling and my hands raw from clapping. What is the world coming to? I thought I was better than people like my dad who insists upon yelling at the teams on the field as if he could do better. Just so long as my new found school pride does not interfere with my studies, ha.
