What's a girl to do if her good guy friend, whom she has no romantic feelings for, sends her a text message admitting his eternal love for her? Assume it's a joke? Still go to lunch with him tomorrow as previously planned? Fake a disappearance?

did you text back? if not, i say go to lunch and pretend nothing changed, hoping he still doesn't have the balls to talk about it face-to-face and will take the hint.
if he brings it up in person well, have something (short) prepared to say.
I'd open the lunchtime conversation with,"What's good here? I have a hankering for a burger. What's the difference in symptoms between syphilis and herpes? Oooh. I'd punch a puppy for some emonade."

Be kind but firm. You may not be able to be his friend anymore and that's his fault not yours.
